Christmas again

Mum and aunts ideas of Christmas party are really very different from our (at least mine). The foods that they prepared are the typical dishes that we had during family buffet dinner. Mee hoon, satay, otah, steamed fish, sushi and few vegetatian stuffs. They find the foods that I prepared too westernised for them, like the roast chicken, saugages and the steamed vege.

My mum thought I am inviting my friends over for the dinner, so she prepared too much foods, when she knows that my friends are not coming, she quickly went down to invite my grandma void deck kaki up for the feast. So, the party turns out to be grandma's party.

With no Christmas Tree, no turkey, no log cake, the dinner feel like an usual family gather rather than Christmas celebration but that's the spirit of Christmas isn't it? It is a get together for the family for a good time.
Hopefully, we will have a Chrsitmas party every year from now on and more happening gift exchange among cousins.
Cheers...

Jolly good time

Christmas party at my place was supposed to be happier if not for my oven which break down at the perfect timing. I have planned to roast chicken, baked shepherd pie, and baked mushrooms.

Last year, oven was still functionable with us offing all the electrical appliances at home but this year, it simply won't work. Once the oven is turned on, it tripped the whole house. With no choice, I replaced my roast chicke with roast chicken from Carrefour and my toaster had to work extremely hard to replace my oven. At least all turn out well, the Christmas dinner looked decent and yummy.

Christmas - My favourite time of the year!!

Not sure about you, but for me Christmas is my most look forward time of the year. This is the time to enjoy, party, show appreciation to your loves one and listen to the wonderful Christmas songs. The festive atmosphere just make everything looks and feels better.

We love gift exchange because of the excitement and anticipation of receiving a gift from your love one. The gift is more than a gift, it is the thought and the effort that the person put in when choosing and buying the gift that count. Recently, I am disappointed by a gift that I got, not because of the value but mainly on the fact that it is too thoughtless and conventient gift to be given. Last year, the same thing happened, the gift from the same person was obviously a free gift that she got long time ago and she conveniently use it for the gift exchange. What goes around comes around, if you do not put in effort, sincere heart and love in handling friendship, don't expect the impossible from the rest.

This is a lesson but it is not going to spoil my Christmas, I still have parties to attend and friends that i love and I know they love me too.

Departure of my uncle

Went to the wake of my uncle last night. He is the husband of my youngest Gu Gu (My dad's youngest sister). Because I was brought up by my maternal grandma, I am natural not closed to my paternal relatives. I know who they are but we only meet up like once a year during Chinese New Year or sadly during wake of relatives.

My youngest Gu Gu is quite nice to us, she will remember all our birthday and buy each of us a birthday cake when we turn 21. She has quite a handful to remember, we have about twenty odd cousin in our Chua Family.

They got married when she was 16 and they have always been a loving couple. Althought I am not closed to her family but I am sadden by the news when my mum informed me. Goodbye Uncle Yeo and be strong, my dear gu gu.

I completed my 10km run in 1 hour and 27 min

I felt great for completing the run at Singapore Marathon today. Before the run, I was worried and not sure what to expect. When I reached the starting point, the whole street was filled with runners who looks prepared and ready.

I am glad that I paced myself well and managed to complete to race without stopping. Along the way, I saw this poster that said ' There is no bad weather, there is only weak mind'. The poster motivated me to carry on and I made it.

Not to mention, I got my first medal from marathon today...

I can feel the pain and lost

Angela lost her baby. She was already 9 weeks pregnant when doctor discovered that her baby has no heart beat, and she needs to end her pregnancy as soon as possible to protect her health. I cried when I talked to her for the first time when I heard the news, I cried again when I was alone thinking about her.

This probably the most painful time of her life but we know she will pull thru. Everything happened for a reason, we might not know the reason now but we will, eventually.

Friend, what important now is to rest and recuperate, leave the rest to God. We love you.

Like Mother Like Daughter

If you think I am a bitch, check out my mother. Where do you think I got my genes from?? There is a newly set up day care centre at the block where my mum stays and they had their official opening today. My mum registered for the check up services that they offered. During the consultation, the doctor asked my mum a few questions:

Doc: Aunty, who are you staying with?
Mum: I am staying alone, both my children got married and moved out.
Doc: You stayed in 5 room flat alone??
Mum: Cannot meh?
Doc: No, since you stayed alone, do you need any home visits or special arrangement from us, in case of emergencies...
Mum: Why, do I look very old to you? I can still manage
Doc:..-_-

Doc: So auuty, are you happy and satisfy with your life now?
Mum: Huh, what do you mean by happy and satisfy? When i compared myself to the rich, of cos i am not happy but when I compared myself to the less fortunate, then I think I am lucky. What do you want me to say???
Doc: Vomit blood and die

I bought an interesting book - The bumper book of useless information.

Went to collect my Race entry pack for Singapore Marathon at Suntec yesterday. I met alot of MAD people, those who took part in the Full Marathon run, really many of them. The collection took me 20min and I met Ee Lin for dinner since she wanted to get some stuffs from Bodyshop and thanks to fairy, we got very GOOD discount.

By the way, that Ee Lin can really shop, we spent such a long time in BS that I almost fall asleep. After clearing out the stocks at BS, we head to MPH and I saw this interesting book ' The bumper book of useless information'. The information is far from useless, they are very informative and easy to read. For eg:

Do you know that:

The smallest unit of time is yoctosecond?
French Fries were invented in Belgium?
The oldest known vegetable is the Pea?
Gorillas often sleep for up to 14 hours a day? - So does Big Boobs..hahahah
and many more....

Me and Ee Lin taking a break...

Bitches at work

Do you agree that there are lots of bitches out there these days and they come in different shape, size, age and race.

I am dealing with one now and sometime, can really vomit blood. So bloody bitchy and irritating. Always claimed that she is unawared, not informed, not updated of things, really wonder what does she know? Maybe nothing. Although I am professional, kind, sweet and understanding, there are still time that I almost wanted to say 'go and eat shit and die'.

My only wish now is to quickly settled the application, launched and move on.

Favourite Radio Station - Class 95 FM

I am going to share with you about my fav radio station, but in the midst of doing so, i might be distracted as I also wanted to share about my meeting experience and the long drive from Woodlands to Vivo to have lunch with XW and Big Boobs.

Had a meeting at Republic Poly, this is my first visit to the poly and I am totally lost. Called my meeting contact and he gave me instructtion that are not a bit helpful. I have to call him 3 times before getting my way to the meeting room. Such an unfriendly place or rather he is just bad at giving direction.

Suppose to meeting XW and big boobs for lunch and XW wanted to eat Carl Jr at Vivo. It is such a long drive from RP to Vivo, aiyo. However becos of the long drive, I got to listen to my fav radio station, what a bonus.

You should tune in to Lunchbreak on weekday if you can. Vernetta Lopez is really damn funny. She always has funny things to share and she is really full of Shit. She has this thing called 'WTS' which mean waste time suggestion and she will give you the most hilarious or stupid suggestions, for all you know someone might be following what she suggest, haahhaha..

Do check her out if you can...other than LunchBreak, I also like Morning Express and Car Tune but I hate Lovesongs Confidential.

Vertical Marathon

Did you see the news on Vertical Marathon in Singapore last weekend? The winner took 7 plus min to complete 73 floors. He must be crazy.

Vertical marathon is seriously 100 times tougher than jogging and am sure it is more effective in training for stamina and burning fats.

Have being going for Vertical training these two days to build up my stamina for the coming Singapore Marathon on 2nd Dec. I am beginning to get hook to it. I can go for my training anything and it takes lesser preparation time. Climbing up the 30 floors is not that tough afterall.

Finally, the day of Colonscopy

Started my fasting and cleansing routine last night to prepare for my scope today. I was supposed to take only fish porriage for dinner before 6pm and start drinking the 2 bottles of Oral Saline laxative at 7pm and 8pm respectively. I have to mix the 45ml of laxative with 750ml of water and finish it within 20min. My tummy felt bloated after drinking almost 2l of water, started the 'cleansing' at 9pm all the way to midnight..argh..

Reached National Cancer Centre at 9.50am, slightly late for my appointment. After registration, I had my blood pressure taken, the nurse said my blood presure is very normal, very good. I went on to change and waited for my turn. I remembered the last time when I had my scope, I was given a General Anaesthetic, and I am unawared about the whole process but today, I am fully awake and went thru the whole process with Dr Lim. Shocking, the scope is very very very very very very very painful and almost unbearable at some points. I was told to breath and relax but the pain is so apparent that I really forget how to breath. I could have see the whole of my colon but i shut my eyes most of the time because of the pain. Thank God I managed to survive the ordeal and Dr said I am doing a good job althought at one point I really did let out and screamed..:P

Everything is fine and good. Nothing wrong with my colon except for some piles. No operation is required now to remove the piles as they are really small. However, doctor did notice that my digestive system is abit slow and that could be due to my high fibre intake. He said I might have taken too much veggies. How ironic, right? So balance diet is so so important..haha

Outing day

Yesterday was an outing day for me and louis. Started the day early with breakfast at Ang Mo Kio. Followed by coffee with the Lim's Families (Darren and Angela + Jeff and Celine and Ash), supposed to hang out at Bishan Park, went there but nothing much to eat, so change the location to Dempsey Road. Spent our 3 hours drinking and chatting. There are many outlets, we do not know where is the best so we ended up at Dome which is tried and tested by everyone.

Knowing that if we were to go home we will definitely be late for our dinner with my family, so went to Bukit Timah Plaza to kill time. Louis want to take a look at the biggest NTUC outlet in Singapore, weird right?

Some pictures taken while we are taking a break after our shopping at NTUC.

Went back home to fetch grandma to Sakaru resturant at Omni threatre. Before setting off, grandma threw tantrum at me. She was not feeling well at that moment and blame me for organising the dinner without her consent. After resting for a while, she felt better and we set off, I was a bit pissed off with my grandma but when we reached, all was well. She did enjoy herself and was glad that she went. Japanese buffet is something new to my grandma and she is happy to see that everyone enjoy the dinner. Login to Facebook to see all the photos taken for grandma birthday okie?

My friend is pregnant and she is really over the TOP.

On Deevapali holiday morning, my dear friend, Angela informed me that she is 6 weeks pregnant. They have been trying for baby and this is really a wonderful piece of news. We were all very happy and I asked her if Darren, her hubby is 'over the top'. Guess what she replied me?

She said: 'Hmmmm..yeah. I think he on top. Maybe best position.:)'

I almost fainted when I saw her replied...Angela, too much details already....

Appointment at SGH - Clinic D Colorectal specialist

This is my second time to SGH Clinic D Colorectal specialist. I had my first colonscopy 2 years ago. The clinic wasn't foreign to me and I can still remember the procedure. Doctor Fu was my doctor today. She is totally different from the doctor Lim from Polyclinic. Doctor Fu is nice and caring. She listened to my symdrome and did a simple check for me. Turned out that I have Piles (http://www.medinfo.co.uk/conditions/haemorrhoids.html). She told me the bleeding is caused by piles but she will schedule me for Colonscopy anyway. I was graceful her assurance. And she offer me Medical Leave for today becos I was coughing my lungs out at her room, so kind of her.

Made my payment and proceed to Rm 11. My Colonscopy is scheduled on 12th November at 10.15am. I have to start fasting on the nigth before after 7pm. I can only take light fish soup noodle for dinner.

Monday, October 29, 2007

Medical appointment.

Went to the poly clinic today. The whole experience wasn't that bad probably becos we make it a point to be the first patient in the afternoon. Waited at the poly clinic at 1.20pm althought the consultation will only start at 2pm.

The doctor that saw me wasn't the typical nice and kind lady doctor. She was cold and unsympathetic. I was coughing my lungs out but obviously she thought my conditions is not that serious. She almost didn't want to give me a MC. What the F***. Anyway, if not becos of the reference letter for my Colonscopy, I will not be there to see her. She is super unhelpful, when I asked for the letter, she sounded kind of unwilling althought I told her I have a strong family history and I recently found blood in my STOOLS.

Anyway, I got the letter and I know the procedure, went to room 14 where they will help me to call SGH for a medical appointment. This time, they messed up, they called SGH and was told that the earliest appointment date will be April 08, I almost fainted. So they tried AH, I was lucky, someone cancelled her/his appointment, so I got a slot at 12th Nov.
Not too bad, definitely better than April next year but my previous records are with SGH. So the lady suggested that I call SGH to borrow my records for my appointment with AH. Luckily I made the call personally. When I called up SGH, I decided to ask if I really need to wait till April 08. I also told her I would prefer SGH since my records are with them. The lady on the phone was shocked, she said my typed kind of cases will get an appointment within a week. She put me on hold and less than a min she got me a slot on 31th Oct at 12noon. Can't believed what happened at the Poly Clinic.
So, please do continue to pray for me, still scare. I will only know if I am clear after my colonscopy.

Tailgate

I hate people who tailgate while driving. I find those drivers who tailgate are simply rude and idiotic. They are not only causing danger to themselves but also the life of others.

Today, I make a big fuss after Louis decided to tailgate me while we are on our way to IMM. I was driving and I am not slow, I am travelling at 100km/hr and when I look up my rear mirror, I saw him tailgate me really closed. So I changed lane and he contiune to do that. I was damn damn pissed when I saw that. To him, he was just having fun while it really irritate me. I can't believed it. Really angry.

Here I am worried about my colon, thus while I was driving, I was thinking how should I face the outcome if the result is bad? How would I react? What should I do? And on the other hand, he is driving like an idiot to irritate me. I almost go crazy.

Today, there is still blood in my stools and I am really worried.

JOY

Holiday time again. Just confirmed our trip to GZ (yes, GZ again) in Jan 08. This time, I am going with my hubby and my shopping kaki, Vanessa and her Hubby to be, Thomas. It is going to be fun and this time I will be going there for a straight 6 days, longest trip ever.

Jan is going to be cold but we are all looking forward to it. There will be lots of eating and shopping waiting for us man.

Counting down to GZ, we are 71 days away from GZ...are you excited?

FEAR

I am still feeling weak after a long night of rest. Other than the bad cought and sore throat, something else is haunting me. As you may know, my family has the history of Colon Cancer and all of us in the family will have 50% chance of getting it. Colon cancer is 100% treatable if it is discover early. Below are the Symdrome of Colon Cancer.

  • a change in bowel habit
  • blood in the stool
  • bloating, persistent abdominal distention constipation
  • a feeling of fullness even after having a bowel movement
  • narrowing of the stool-so-called ribbon stools
  • persistent, chronic fatigue
  • abdominal discomfort
  • unexplained weight loss
  • very rarely, nausea and vomitingly.

What scared me was, these few days i have discover blood in my stool. The most effective way of discovering Colon Cancer is thru reglar check up and a yearly colonscopy. I missed mine last year, so I am rushing down to Poly Clinic the coming Monday for a reference letter for a appointment with SGH. No time to waste. Pray for me!!

New Hairdo

I have rebonded my hair and now it is time to trim and highight it. Get ready for my new hairdo, going to get it done tomorrow. Yeah

Sick, ill, unwell, whatever you call it

Once again, I am down with bad cough and sore throat. I rememebered falling ill not very long again and it took me quite a while to recover fully. Was really frustrated to be feeling ill, tired and restless.

Why am I so weak? I am leading a healthy lifestyle what, I am jogging regularly, in fact more than what I used to do and I am eating quite healthily and popping vitamin daily, so why am I still so weak? Really don't quite get it.

The sore throat is really irritating and I have melted ton of lozenges in my mouth already man, those very strong one even numb my tongue. I can't believed I am going to spend my weekend feeling ill again and YES, AGAIN.

Late

What happened? I was late twice today. Late for work and late for class. I set my alarm clock to ring an hour early as I wanted to buy breakfast for my colleague (s) to repay for his help. Ended up, I overslept and was late for work. I remembered killing the irritating sound at 7am but the next moment i opened my eye, it was already 9am. Got a nasty shocked, jumped out of bed and message my understanding boss. I got ready in less than 15min and I got out of my house.

My meeting ended late and I rushed back to IMM from Millenia walk, got caught in the traffic jam and i was half an hour late. Luckily, i got my dear Fairy to entertain the rest of the students. I hate this...

Lazy weekend

I survived my very eventful week. Grandma eye's operation went on very well. Althought she was very exhausted after the Op but I believed she will be rewarded with clear vision soon. We were very worried before the the Op, but grandma was stronger than we thought, she was calm and composed. I am really glad that I was with her before and after the Op, the quality time that we spent together is really really priceless. Ah ma, jia you, I love you.

I had a great time during our company bowling game with our business partner. Had good fun and everything turn out good. Althought we lost in all categories but I won some money thru our side bet. Thank you uncle TL.

So I am very happy to be able to spend my Sat doing nothing, needed the break desperately. Went to my fav cafe, Starbuck with Louis. So relaxing...

Coffee for you??

Me and my Soy latte

Act cool ah...

Today feels like a Friday

Today is only Tuesday, but I am so tired and hoping today is already Friday. This week is another busy week, full of activities with very little chance to rest. The most worrying thing will be my grandma op. I know, this is a small op for many people but I can't help worrying for my grandma. Hope all is well.

Can't wait for the weekend to be here...so tiring.

Having my golf game at Warren CC tomorrow, will be another tiring day...more update after the game.

Grandma eye's operation.

Grandma is scheduled for her cataract operation this coming Thursday. She is excited about the operation cos of the blur vision that she is experiencing now, but we are all worried cos she had Glaucoma on her other eye. Meaning, she is operating on her better eye in hope of a clearer vision but in the midst of doing so, she might also risk not able to see for a couple of days.

I have taken leave to accompany my grandma. When i bought my first car, i told my grandma i can fetch her to the hospital, must carry out what i promised.

Some info about Glaucoma:

Glaucoma refers to a category of eye disorders often associated with a dangerous buildup of internal eye pressure (intraocular pressure or IOP), which can damage the eye's optic nerve that transmits visual information to the brain.
With untreated or uncontrolled glaucoma, you might eventually notice decreased ability to see at the edges of your vision (peripheral vision). Progressive eye damage could then lead to blindness.
In fact, as the second leading cause of blindness, glaucoma creates at least some vision loss in more than half of the approximately 2.5 million Americans estimated to have the eye disease.
Glaucoma Symptoms
Glaucoma is often referred to as the "silent thief of sight," because most types typically cause no pain and produce no symptoms. For this reason, glaucoma often progresses undetected until the optic nerve already has been irreversibly damaged, with varying degrees of permanent vision loss.
But with acute, angle-closure glaucoma, symptoms that occur suddenly can include blurry vision, halos around lights, intense eye pain, nausea, and vomiting. If you have these symptoms, make sure you immediately see an eye care practitioner or visit the emergency room so steps can be taken to prevent permanent vision loss.

Break-thru

A finally break thru, have been learning golf for awhile but i have been very inconsistent. I admit I have not practice hard enough and with a lousy coach who have the tentancy to look down on women, how fast can we improve right?

Anyway, with good tips from my boss and my secret weapon, i managed to drive more than 120m consistently last night. I am so excited.

Here's my weapon:

Live life to the fullest and my week activities are usually packed. Let see:

Making choices

Making choices are not easy, especially if you have to move out of your comfort zone. There will be anxiety, worry and uncertainty ahead. But if you want to change your lifestyle, you will have to step out and make the changes. Nobody can make the decision for your except for yourself.

If you want to have a bright future, start by sleeping early. If you can't sleep early, then change your current lifestyle. Thing will not change by you asking a few questions. You got to do something about it. Stop giving yourself excuses. Life is yours, take control. You are young, you are allowed to make mistake, but learnt from your mistake. How many time must be wrong and failed before you buck up? You want to be praise? Earn it. You want to be treated like an adult? Behave like one. You want a good future? Work hard.

There is no free lunch in this world, your mum can't be providing and shielding you forever, be responsible.

Ah bao, this is for you.

Tiring weekend

Had a very tiring weekend. Saturday was alright, had breakfast near our place, the usual routine if me and Louis are free. Had a nail Arts workshop from 2-5pm. Class was fun. After class, went to fetch Big boobs and headed to our little Ash birthday party. Crowded and we played nanny to a pair of Twin, Amber and Ashley the whole night. They were only 4 months old, quite easy babies to take care.

Woke up early on Sunday, our part-time help came to clean our messy home. It has been a long while since she last came (because she went to London for holiday with her owner). After the cleaning, we got ready and went to my colleague's place, house warming invitation. Hang around for 2 hours and went off to collect our Mooncake and sent it to my grandma. Too many activities within a day, too tiring.

Another tiring week awaiting me....

Another bad news - ALL IS GOOD

Following up on my Uncle condition. Chatted with my aunt yesterday and the scan result said there are no sign of cancer cell in my uncle brain. What a relief. But his Doctor told my aunt that based on his many years of experience, he is quite certain that some amount of cancer cell is spread to the brain but it is too little to be detected now.

Thus, he immediately start the rest of the Chemo hoping to wipe out the cell and stop the spreading.

My uncle eyes double vision has improved after the treatment and eyes specialist had confirmed that his eyes are fine for now.

How smaller can this world be???

Got a mms from QueenMother yesterday asking me if the picture of the wedding cover look familiar? I look at it and have not recall at all. So she asked me to guess who are the couple and i am invited for the wedding as well. I tried my best to think and we have a friend wedding on 29th Setp, she can't be asking me the obvious right?? So I replied her saying that it is 'Kian Seng"? (Kian Seng is her ex-BF and happened to be our classmate).

She replied, 'it is a good try but no and the wedding is on 28th Sept'. So i called her and asked, who is it exactly. She asked i should have a wedding to attend on 28th Sept. Indeed, i do but that's Louis's friend wedding, she only met him at my wedding so he can't possibly invited her right?

So, the story is, QM's mum is invited to the same friend wedding on 28th Sept by the mother of the groom. What a small small world. And the best thing is, QM will be going with her mum with our darling little Ash. Yeah.

Dell dealer night

Another corporate event but this time, I volunteer to join as the event will be on cruise. I never really go on cruise and since this is free, why not, right? Moreover, not bosses are free to join, isn't that perfect or what??

However, the cruise was a bad experience, i had sea sick. The night was not really fun for me and the thing about cruise is, we are trap till the cruise get back to the dock. Life suck but thanks to Big boobs and TL, they help to massage me and lower my level of sea-sick-ness. Else, can really die.

No more cruise event for me, I rather work OT then go thru the suffer again. We did not win the Lucky draw but luckily the door gift was quite good.

Another bad news

Had dinner at home and my mum told me abad news. My uncle who was diagnose with cancer few months ago was suppose to be recovering but just when the doctor told him that his cancer is 60-70% heal, another blow hit. His cancer seem to have spread to his brain. He woke up last week with double vision and teary eyes.

He went for test this week and result will be out on Friday. Doctor asked my aunt and uncle to be mentally prepared for the worst. What is happening, when thing seem to be better and this had to happened? Doctor said if cancer is spread to brain then no amount of chemotherapy will help.

Two Wedding in a month

Why are everyone getting married in the same months, can't they spare a thought for their friends who have to attend their wedding and to make matter worst, they are all very closed friends and that means Hong Bao must be thick.

Two friends getting married in September, one day after another at two very exotic locations. One at Sentosa and one at the ZOO. How interesting can wedding dinner get these days??

Not to mentioned, i have two wedding dinner to attend in November, again, it is one day after another, both are my colleauges and on weekend. Meaning to say, I will be seeing my bossess and other colleagues for the full week.

This is not the end, i have another set of friends getting married in Jan 08 and guess what? The wedding dinner is also one day after another...how sweet right?

Start afresh.

I noticed that everytime when i update my blog thru friendster, it will trigger an email to my friends and that can be quite irritating. So i decided to start another blog that. So here i am, starting everything afresh.

However, if you are keen to know what i have blog previously, you can view my old blog, but i will not update it anymore.
